This year's
Night of Hope fundraising dinner was a remarkable evening filled with many celebratory moments: record monies raised during the silent and live auction bidding; inspirational youth sharing their personal stories of growth; and, honoring Shiloh’s graduating seniors with scholarships!
Amidst the beautiful backdrop at Union Seminary’s Refectory Hall in New York City, the silent auction was the starter course for the evening where guests were actively bidding on items, especially the “Kitchen Equipment” packages for Shiloh’s new Celebration Center that raised over $8,000.
Over 150 guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner while listening to guest speaker Sherry Williams, Principal for Public School 179 in the Bronx, a partnering school with Shiloh. Youth speakers Nakeisha Vanterpool, Aaron Richards, and Jasmine Brown reminded the audience of the evening’s purpose when they shared their personal stories and how their lives have been changed by Shiloh’s programs.
Shiloh’s graduating seniors Jennifer Hernandez, Nicole and Nakeisha Vanterpool, were surprised and emotional after being recognized for their remarkable efforts in school and participation at Shiloh. Each was given a $2,000 scholarship that was made possible by our generous, supportive donors!
The evening was brought to a close with Lark Mason’s brilliant skills as auctioneer, bargaining with guests for live auction items. Despite facing a struggling economy, Shiloh’s total dollars raised reached $45,000, a new record for Night of Hope.
“A spectacular night filled with hope!” shared a first time guest, who fell in love with Shiloh when she heard our youth speak. It was truly an inspirational evening shared by all of our guests. We are so grateful to our supporters who attended and made the night such a huge success!
