Following are brief descriptions of the purpose, history and staff that comprise the Shiloh organization.
Our Mission
Shiloh is a not-for-profit Christian organization dedicated to equipping at-risk youth with tools to build hope. We teach, mentor, and befriend them to promote their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth.

Our History
In the summer of 1951, Shiloh held its first camp session under the direction of Eddie Grindley at a site in Mendham, New Jersey provided by Clinton Davidson, a wealthy New York businessman. In the 60's and 70's, Shiloh expanded to include year-round, community-based programs in New York City and surrounding communities. In 1976, the camp was moved from New Jersey to its present site in Woodridge, New York.During the 80's and early 90's Shiloh downsized to offering only summer camp programs, but in 1995 Shiloh overcame economic hurdles and once again expanded into the neighborhoods. Throughout its history, the Shiloh organization has served more than 10,000 at-risk children from New York City’s most difficult communities.

Volunteers and Mentors
Each year Shiloh recruits the help of volunteers in New York City and surrounding areas to serve as mentors and role models for our children. Since the beginning of our neighborhood work in 2000, more than 25 former staff members and volunteers have relocated to New York to serve. In 2002, more than 15 Christian adults committed to spending time with the children and teens of Shiloh weekly in two separate programs.

Each Spring, five groups totaling 75 students from different Christian universities and campus ministries travel to New York to spend their spring vacation tutoring children. And in June of each year, men and woman from various church families travel to camp to invest sweat and energy to improve the campgrounds.
