ROLE SUMMARY
Camp Shiloh is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Director to support the Camp Director in overseeing the successful planning, execution, and evaluation of our summer camp program. This role involves leadership, staff support, program management, and ensuring the safety and well-being of campers. The Assistant Director will play an integral part in fostering a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered environment for campers and staff alike.
General Responsibilities:
As the Assistant Camp Director you'll serve as a mentor, role model, and guide. With a positive attitude, energy, and self-control you'll participate in and lead camp activities throughout the day, assist with camper check-in, meal service, and transportation. Clear communication with fellow staff and camp leadership is essential, as is resolving conflicts and upholding camp expectations. You'll mentor teen Counselors in Training (CITs) by providing guidance and feedback to develop their leadership skills. By upholding camp policies and embodying Shiloh’s core values, you’ll contribute to a transformative experience for campers and staff.

5. CPR and First Aid certifications (preferred).

1. Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new and returning staff members.
2. Collaborate with the Camp Director to plan and develop the camp theme, Bible lessons, and related programming.
3. Support the creation and refinement of staff training materials and schedules.
4. Partner with the CIT (Counselor-in-Training) Manager to design leadership training opportunities for CIT participants.
5. Organize camp logistics, including housing assignments, supply orders, and program resources.
During Camp:
1. Assist the Camp Director in overseeing daily operations and ensuring program objectives are achieved.
2. Provide mentorship, supervision, and support to camp staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
3. Work closely with the CIT Manager to implement and monitor the CIT program, ensuring meaningful development opportunities for participants.
4. Oversee the execution of camp activities, events, and schedules, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
5. Address camper and staff concerns promptly to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
6. Actively contribute to upholding and modeling Camp Shiloh’s Christian values and mission.
Post Camp:
1. Assist with the evaluation of the camp season; including gathering and analyzing feedback from staff and campers.
2. Contribute to the preparation of end-of-season reports and documentation to inform future planning.
3. Support staff recognition initiatives, including appreciation events or acknowledgments.
4. Collaborate with the Camp Director on post-season debriefs and program improvements.

5. Be prepared to physically manage and support campers, ranging from 50 to 200 pounds, during activities to ensure their safety.
6. Adapt to different climates and perform outdoor tasks under varying weather conditions.
